About us
The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) is a department of the Gauteng provincial government in South Africa. It is responsible for agricultural affairs, environmental protection, and nature conservation within Gauteng. It was formerly known as the Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (GDACE).

The mission of the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is to radically modernise and transform the agri-food value chain, ensure sustainable environment and development of urban and rural communities by ensuring sustainable environment management; providing access to and inclusive participation in the commercial agri-food value chain and agro-processing; promoting food security; promoting/contributing/stimulating integrated rural and urban development; and promoting the One Health System.
